The Mines

When we last went to Baguio we went to the mines called "Balatoc Mines." At first it was creepy but I was wrong it was not creepy it was an unforgettable experience for me and my family.

We were on our way to the mines. It was a long way to go. My dad was driving beside him was my grandfather. I just wore a white shirt and my blue jacket and my jeans. As we go on our way, I noticed the the streets were a bit slender, so I got quite scared. When we were there, we were asked to put on boots and helmets. We went in it was safe cause they doubled the protection and I saw a man using a machine to drill walls to make holes. In the walls they put dynamites. I touched one and at first I didn't because I was scared. As we go on, the tour guide said that they were going to demonstrate exploding a dynamite. When it exploded, I felt air or the current of the explosion. After that we returned back to the office and we went to the museum and after sometime we also went on our way back home.

In the future the mines will grow older.I just hope that people can go there even at least once so they can have another unforgettable experience.

My Grandparent's Beach House

“My Grandparent’s Beach House”

Every year, we go to my grandparent’s beach house in Bolinao, Pangasinan to relax and enjoy the province life. We usually eat our energizing breakfast at Tarlac before really heading straight to Bolinao. Shortly after arriving at the beach house, we put our heavy luggages at ease and we immediately stroll around the province’s main city. At Pangasinan, we usually don’t eat food that already appears in Metro Manila. Instead, we eat some of Bolinao’s mouth-watering seafoods like crabs, shrimps, and fishes. After eating lunch, we sometimes go to the grocery to buy food and water that we need at the beach house. Okay, let’s put the “strolling” part at rest. At the beach house there is, of course, a beach in front of it. We usually have a good nap before taking on the fun-filled, cozy beach. The beach house actually has two houses. One for my parents while the second is for my brother, sister, and of course me. Meanwhile for dinner, our maids make some food for us like the warm, beefy Nilagang Bulalo, some baked mussels, and who would ever forget, the “Only in Pangasinan” assorted seafoods. Before leaving for Manila, we buy crabs and some oh-so-yummy longganisas at the wet market.

Probably in fifty years, the beach house will be more improved in its structures. Bolinao will have more tourists than ever. Also when my Aunts and Uncles retire, they might even occupy the whole beach house. I also think that Bolinao might have a more futuristic look compared to now. Well, who knows?

Boracay, Philippines, where you can pamper yourself to the ends of the earth or have a great night out with your friends.
I decided to write about Boracay because we went there twice within the last three or two months. The first time I ever rode an
airplane was on October and the second one on November. Boracay is really a fantastic place because of the early morning low tides
and the feeling you get when you just woke up and stroll around the white sanded beach barefooted. Though riding on a ATV (All Terrain
Vehichle) and then the front left wheel suddenly falls off is not something I want to experience again.

My first time in Boracay was with my family from my mom's side. We stayed at a hotel in station one named "Two Seasons" and the hotel was
so amazing, from the pool area to the rooms and most of all, the beach in front of our hotel. It was so silent and all you can hear was
the waves and nothing else. Though we only spent 2 nights their cause it was just a weekend. The second time I went was with my dad's side
of the family and we stayed for four days in a resort called "The Crown" in station 2. Our hotel was at the center of the night life in Boracay
that it was so hard to get some sleep at night cause you often hear party music from the bar beside us or the foreigners screaming "BO-RA-CAY!"
On our 3rd day we made the best of the last day in Boracay because our flight was gonna leave early in the morning. We went snorkeling and it
was amazing. The others tried it with a life vest but I wanted to try snorkeling without one, cause when you have a life vest all you do is
float and watch as the fish swim by under you. But when you don't have one, you can dive as deep as you can and actually touch the corals
and other plants under the sea and you'd feel weightless. After snorkeling we went banana boating, I'm guessing it's called banana boating
cause the boat looks like a banana and you just hang on as hard as you can while the speed boat pulls the banana boat and it was an amazing
experience.

On our last day in Boracay we got up 5:30 to watch the sun rise up the mountains and take a picture of the beautiful landscape. We took some
last photos of the sun rise then went walking around lazily the white beach and headed back to our resort. We set off to Caticlan by "Bangka"
and then from Caticlan to Kalibo we drove, and even watching the trees and the beautiful scenery on our way to Kalibo was amazing! It's pretty sad
though that we needed to leave. I do hope to see Boracay again sometime in the future. I do hope everyone of us can go there sometime cause everyone
deserves a little bit of luxury.

A pleasant place

A pleasant place
In our last day in the United States, my aunt brought us to Huntington Beach in California. The excitement was starting to tickle me on the inside and made me want to jump into the air. Huntington Beach is a place where people get to do whatever they want like go surfing, go for a walk along the beach, play volleyball or Frisbee or just go out and swim in the waters of the Pacific. Once we all met on the beach I got sick of my parents’ warnings about the cold icy water and I just jumped in with my cousin and my sister to the icy water. In the middle of the beach is a pier that is high enough for people to feel the cold breeze of the ocean. Further into the land is a portion of the city with a lot of different shops selling food and clothes. The sand was almost the same sand which I encountered in Santa Monica and Sentosa, Singapore. Once we grew tired we each took a shower and went to the city to have lunch. As soon as we were full we proceeded to the pier which had people strolling with dogs. There was a wide assortment of things to do like rent or buy a kite, go fishing, watch surfers, and in my case just have fun by saying hi to the surfers. The pier was made of wood, which made me feel uneasy because it seemed quite old but it was still strong and durable. The cold breeze made me freeze because since I got accustomed to the climate there I hardly ever used my jackets. It truly was a pleasant place to be in, you could just sit in the sand all day or go to the pier and watch the sun set over the horizon. I was thankful for being brought there because I’ve seen and enjoyed myself in another beach in the U.S.
In the future I think the pier will be supported with steel to reinforce the old wood, the city will have a more updated look and several attractions or other things can be added in the future.

Quezon
An island in Quezon is the hometown of my father. It’s a province in the south, a four to five hour drive from manila depending on the traffic. I’ve been going there since I was young. I go there every summer vacation or every Holy week. I go there to see our relatives specially my great grandfather. I really enjoy going there since we have a" resthouse". Anytime I can swim and play computer outside. And play with our cousins and friends there.
The island of "Cagbality" is one of the most popular places in Quezon. "Cagbality" is an white sand beach with resorts. The "Cagbality" is a tourist spot in Quezon, many tourists in our country go there every summer or Holyweek. One can enjoy his stay by doing different things like beach volleyball and jetskiing, they can also enjoy eating seafood and drink fresh "coconut" juice.
I just hope and pray that the island will be more progressive but not abused. I want to continue going there every year with my family and friends and enjoy it the same way. Come and now see Quezon and Cagbality!

It's More Fun In Zamboanga!

It's More Fun In Zamboanga!

The school of Claret in Zamboanga, all in-front of my eyes once again. Just like the feeling when you're in Claret School of Quezon City. All so full of memories in the past and even maybe more memories to come in the future.

It all started when my parents allowed me to join and signed the letter. In the beginning, my first intentions in why I wanted to go to Zambonga was just to shed some few days and just relax for a bit. Another reason was that I wanted to have some new "friends" but those intentions slowly changed. In the middle of the night, at Claret School of Quezon City, I was waiting for out flight going to Zamboanga. All-thrilled and excited, I just can't stay in one spot. The feeling where-in you're curious of to see what it really looks like in Zamboanga. The feeling where-in you're just gonna pop out of excitement. Well, those are the feelings I'm feeling at those moments. Time just began to jump after that time. Just a few moments ago, I was at school and now I'm already at the airport. We arrived at the airport at around 1:30am, checked-in and now waiting for our flight at around 4pm. As the time slowly approaches, I then thought of those incidents that happen in Mindanao. Actually aware of those happening in Mindanao, I wasn't scared because I knew and had trust in our school that they would bring us to a safe place and not somewhere that would bring us harm. Slowly, we were boarding the plane at around 3:45 and I found my seat 18F which made me happy because that seat was the seat next to the window. Slowly I felt the plane moving and now the plane was taking off. I was so thrilled to be on riding a plane once again in my life with that feeling that gravity is dragging you back. In the plane, I slowly drifted to sleep.
A few moments later, we arrived at Zamboanga. Wow, What a beautiful place indeed! It was just like Quezon City but with that familiar feeling when you're in the province, the feeling that the refreshing breeze is flowing around your body. Even though it's a province, it was quite civilized if you ask me. The buildings, the restaurants, the schools, the city was full of those, all blended with the typical houses. We arrived at Claret School of Zamboanga City and there I was amazed. It was simply beautiful and simple. The campus was pretty huge actually. They had their own Football Field, the playground for the pre-schoolers, a multi-purpose hall, a quadrangle, and two canteens, one for the grade school and one for the high school. As long as I can compare, CSZC is quite larger than CSQC but CSQC is more modernized than CSZC. After a little of Zamboanga City we now go to the real deal, the 5th ACSPI Youth Peace Camp.

Our main objective in going to Zamboanga was going to the Peace Camp which is held yearly to show us that we Claretians are peace-lovers and don't want any violence in any part of our country and the world. It was quite an enjoyable camp if I may say, the traditional feel inside your quarters, the enjoyable activities, not to mention the friendly people who joined the camp were all part that made this camp very memorable. The quarters were quite exotic if you ask me, it was just like what a "Bahay Kubo" would probably look like but it was made into rooms and looks like dorms. The food were delicious even though with absence of pork for our respect to our Muslim brothers and sisters. The activities were nice and fun. One of the most memorable activities I experienced was the "Eco-Trek" and the social interaction. The Eco-Trek was a trek where-in while we trek from the morning until the afternoon, we will encounter stations that shows how we show our respect and love towards our environment. The station I liked the most is the last station where-in we get "baptized" by the water of the flowing waterfalls and the running river. After the activity at the last station, we were then allowed to swim. We had fun with our friends that we met through the different activities that we had done especially during interaction. I personally met a lot of friends, with the first being Biel Garcia and my closest friend between them all in Zamboanga is Selina. I also met Chesz, Hannah, Cindy, Camille M., Camille V., Alyms, Mush and Nest with all of them being good friends that I can treasure forever in my life. The next few days went in a rush, the parade, the prayers, it felt like time was now asking us to hurry up and now it was the last day of our Zamboanga experience. We gave our farewells to each others. We gave our means of communications to each other. We even took pictures as remembrance of our friendship. We kept saying goodbye and the others being emotional of what was happening until the time had come for us to leave. I, myself, didn't cry out of sadness nor happiness in our time to say goodbye but I stood strong because I knew that this wasn't our final goodbye and I know that one day we will see each other again in time.

In the future, 50 years from now, I feel that Zamboanga City will prosper even more and with all its prosperity, can help those neighboring provinces in Mindanao and thus will make a better Mindanao that will make a better Philippines that will make a better world. Claret School of Zamboanga City will be as modernized as Claret School of Quezon City in the future. The nature will be preserved in the future and the friends I had made will live a successful life in the future, the future full of peace.

The Old Church

The Old Church
It was a beautiful church both sacred and holy. People come to mass to honor God and His son Jesus. Starry night and bright moon collided together to create a perfect evening. It was an enchanting night.

My family and I were getting ready to go to mass. We go to mass usually every Saturday sometimes on Sunday. My sister is dressed up wearing her brown outfit with three ribbons attach to it. One is placed near her neck; the second and the third ribbons are placed near her shoulders. While my mom wore her plain yellow dress with three buttons aligned vertically. And I wore my checkered blue polo. As I went outside the cold breeze of air penetrated my whole body like I was a dead person. The star and the moon shone bright together, stars twinkled together like dancing lights and the moon radiantly flashed its beauty to the darkest streets. My mom and my sister are dressed up and ready to go. So, I got in to the car and my mom drove us to the old church. Well, since it’s almost December bazaars started showing up near the old church. People started roaming around before the mass starts. Some are buying foods eating and others are already seated and waiting for the priest to come. We entered the church and we saw people silently praying for their love ones. We also prayed for the safety of others and our love ones. The mass started and church songs are played in a mellow way. Time passed by the mass ended people went home to welcome another day tomorrow. As I was walking to our car I had a feeling that the starry night was watching me above the heavens. People smelled the fragrance of food in every corner of the church. This night was a beautiful night. I should thank God for creating such beauty for the humankind.

I think the old church after 50 years will look older. The church will have cracks, ceilings will have molds, rusty statutes and many more changes will occur as time pass by. The old church will also be more sacred and historical.

Traveling the High Seas

The air conditioner was starting to bug me as my family and I walked through the connecting chute going into the ship. You see, my family booked some tickets for a 3-day cruise. As usual, they dragged my brother and I along. The next thing is I’m freezing my legs off. I looked up ahead and saw that we were nearing the exit of the chute…
My jaw dropped in amazement as I looked at the furnishings. The interior of the ship looked like that of a five star hotel’s. There were a lot of people milling around and chattering excitedly to others. Music was coming from speakers above us as we headed through the elevator. I scanned our surroundings and spotted a Japanese restaurant across. I took a peek inside and saw various Japanese dishes that made my mouth water. We took a glass encased elevator with velvet lining to our cabin. When I entered our cabin, I almost thought it was a hotel room. Nothing else signified that we were on a cruise. There was a set of TV, two beds and a lot of other stuff. The ocean breeze rushed into the room as I opened the sliding door of the balcony. I went straight over to the balcony and leaned over and watched blue waves rolling over one another. It felt so perfect I couldn’t ask for anything else at that moment. No matter how engrossing the scene was, my curiosity got the better of me. I joined my brother in exploring the whole hotel. Our eyes grew rounder as we walked along different shops across the area. There were clothes shops, boutiques, souvenir shops and even a bakery. We didn’t get to see the pool and game arcade area until later because a Western buffet had been set for us. We selected from a wide selection of dishes. It was almost impossible to move after the meal.
For three days we enjoyed all the amenities that Superstar Virgo Cruise offered. We watched a show at their theatre. We played billiards at the entertainment area and played video games at the arcade. For three days all I did was play and eat, forgetting that I was aboard a floating metal. It was an awesome experience. Though I wonder, what that huge piece of metal be 50 years from now.
I guess it would be an attraction at some museum. But there is also a huge possibility that it would be given a totally new look. The interiors might take on a futuristic design and everything would turn into more modern and elegant. There is only one thing that is certain, the future would bring about changes in the total look of the whole ship, and whatever modernity the future brings would be reflected in the interiors of the whole ship.

Our Ancestral House

OUR ANCESTRAL HOUSE

We have an ancestral house in our province, Cagayan. This house is where my grandparents live and also some of my relatives. My family and I usually visit here whenever it is our summer break or sometimes, whenever we feel like to.

What I love about our ancestral house is that it still has that homely feeling despite of its old structure. The house’s exterior and interior design were inspired of a typical old-fashioned Spanish house. Just when you walk inside, you will feel the warm atmosphere which relaxes me after a long trip. Whenever we eat, they serve us appetizing home recipes made by my grandmother. At our backyard stands a “bahay-kubo” surrounded by numerous kinds of plants. Beside it was a piggery where my grandparents’ helpers get pigs and cook them when there are special occasions. On the second floor, you will see some rooms, each with a different, unique design. The first room was my aunt’s room. Her room had attractive floral patterns. It had its own drawer and has this one of a kind closet where she used to place her collections of dolls. The second room was my uncle’s. Unlike the other rooms, this had a Chinese motif in it. It was actually my favorite room because of its interesting features. The last room was my dad’s room. His room was the biggest among all rooms. It had a very spacious closet and drawer. The room had a really fascinating interior design. It was like you were actually in the period of the Spanish occupation. What was fascinating about this room were the small windows on the lower parts of the walls. The house also has a very palatial terrace overviewing the whole village.

What I think on what our ancestral house would look like after fifty years, is that its style would change into a more contemporary, urban look. I would love this to happen since I’d like to be an architect at the same time, an interior designer in the future. This would be a great thing, although it will lose its style’s sentimental value. Who knows what changes would likely happen in our ancestral house in the future?

In my opinion, it is still preferable for my family not to change our ancestral house’s look. As I see it in the future, we will still be having more enjoyable and cherished moments and I know that the family spirit will surely never die.
